Dry forest and woodland; often in rocky situations. Western Slopes and tablelands. Occasionally elsewhere.
Shrub to 1.8 m high. Leaves alternating up the stems, 2–8 cm long, mostly 2–20 mm wide, margins curved to loosely rolled down, upper surface soon hairless and granular, lower surface hairy, rarely obscured by the margins. Flowers with 4 'petals' joined together in pairs, hairy outside and with rusty brown hairs, or orange to greenish, bearded usually above the middle inside. Gynoecium 11–20 mm long; style hairy with with rusty brown hairs. Flower clusters curved down, 6–20-flowered, usually almost cylindrical to almost oval. Flowering: all months, mainly spring.
In the absence of specific information, seeds of all species of Grevillea have been keyed as having one wing.
