Stream banks and along rocky creeks. Coast and ranges.

Notes

Shrub to 4 m tall. Bark irregular and rough. Bark on smaller stems becoming rough, occasionally shedding in stringy strips. Young stems hairy, soon becoming hairless. A wide flange on young stems at the base of the leaf stalks. Leaves aromatic when rubbed, alternating up the stems, 1-3.5 cm long, usually 2.5-7 mm wide, flat, mostly hairless, tapering to a broad base, margins flat to curved upwards, tips notched. Flowers about 7-9 mm in diameter, with 5 white petals 3-4 mm long, in clusters of up to 5 flowers. Flowers Spring to Summer. Nuts 3.5–5 mm in diameter, shed early.
