Pasture, wetlands, and near streams. Wingecarribee Swamp, the Boro area near Braidwood, and the Bega River Valley.
Perennial herb to 2 m high, rhizomatous or stoloniferous. Dies back to the rootstock each autumn and resprouts next spring. Leaves in whorls of 3 or 4, or opposite each other, 3.5–9 cm long, 6–32 mm wide, becoming smaller towards the stem tip, green, paler beneath, covered with minute glandular hairs, dotted with orange to blackish glands. Flowers yellow, 9–15 mm in diameter, with 5 petals. Sepals with a line of orange to blackish glands on their outer surface near the margins. Flowers in many-flowered branched clusters.
