Where found

Grassy areas, roadsides, gardens, disturbed sites, and along streams. Widespread.

Notes

Introduced annual or short-lived perennial herb, rooting at the nodes, prostrate, usually less than 0.25 m tall. Stems with scattered stellate or simple hairs. Leaves alternating along the stems, about 1.5-5 cm long, 20-30 mm wide, sparsely hairy, margins toothed or scalloped, and usually with broad lobes. Flowers with 5 red to orange petals, each 4-6 mm long, and a yellow to greenish centre. Flowers Sep.–Mar.
