Shrub or tree to 11 m high. Fruit fleshy. Bark coarsely fissured, corky. Stems hairless, smooth to obscurely warty, resinous. Leaves alternating up the stems, scattered, 3–9 cm long, 7–22 mm wide, thick and fleshy, margins entire or finely toothed towards the tips, tips pointed to broad-pointed, surfaces hairless, the same colour on each side. Flowers 6–8 mm in diameter, white, with hairs in the throat, usually spotted purplish inside, with a bell-shaped tube and 5 lobes. Sepals with obvious translucent membranous margins. Flowers in clusters of 3-8 flowers. Fruit mauve to bluish-purple or black, smooth. Flowers mainly Sep.–Dec.
