Moist places and open swamps. Coast and ranges north from Nowra. Occasionally farther south.
Herb, prostrate to sprawling. Stems to 1.5 m long, slender, bristly. Leaves alternating along the stems, 3–7 cm long, 15–32 mm wide, with sparse hairs mostly restricted to the veins and margins, bases with pointed lobes, stipular sheath (ocrea) with scattered antrorse hairs, upper margin hairless or with scattered fringing hairs to 1 mm long. Flowers with 4-5 pink or white 'petals', each 3.0–3.7 mm long. Inflorescence of 2–4 branches with small almost round to oval flower clusters 5–10 mm long.
