Western Slopes, ACT, and tablelands. Occasionally elsewhere. Grassy areas, crops, disturbed sites, roadsides, and stream banks.
Introduced perennial herb to 1.5 m high. Stems ribbed, hairless. Leaves basal and alternating up the stems, bases continuing down the stems. Rosette leaves 7–15 cm long, 7–12 mm wide, margins sometimes wavy or slightly toothed near the base. Stem leaves 1–9 cm long, 2–9 mm wide, becoming smaller in size up the stems, sometimes with a small abrupt point. Flowers yellowish or pale yellow-cream, with 3-4 petals each 3–5 mm long. Flower spike to 80 cm long. Flowers most of year.
