Where found

Dry forest, woodland, and grassy areas, often on rocky slopes. Widespread.

Notes

Herb to 0.8 m high. Stems rough, slightly hairy, brownish. Leaves opposite each other, 2-12 cm long, 6–25 mm wide, surfaces hairy or finely rough, often covered with stalkless glands on the lower surface, veins prominent, margins toothed or lobed, tips pointed. Flower heads with about about 8 yellow ‘petals’ 1–2 mm long, 2–3-toothed at the tips, and with 10-20 yellow florets in the centre. Flower heads behind the ‘petals’ broadly bell-shaped to hemispherical, 4-7 mm long, 5-7 mm in diameter, not sticky. Flower heads single or in open clusters. Flowering: mostly spring and summer.
