Roadsides, grassy areas, along streams, and damp areas. Widespread.

Notes

Introduced annual, biennial or short-lived perennial herb to 1.8 m tall. Stems hairless. Leaves alternating up the stems, initially more or less in a basal rosette, 1-15 cm long, 2–16 mm wide, hairless, margins entire to toothed, bases often stem-clasping. Flower heads with about 25 white, pink, blue, or pale mauve 'petals' each 3-5 mm long and a yellow centre 2-4 mm in diameter. Flower heads behind the ‘petals’ cylindrical. Flower heads in large open branched clusters. Flowers all year.
