Open forest, woodland, and grassy sites. Coast, ranges, tablelands, and ACT. Rare elsewhere.
Perennial herb, to 0.3 m tall, or prostrate to sprawling, hairless or sparsely hairy, and more or less gland-dotted. Leaves alternating along the stems, compound, with 2 leaflets, each 0.8-3 cm long, 2-10 mm wide, the lower leaflets more or less oval, the upper leaflets lance head shaped to linear. Flowers 5-12 mm long, pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, yellow to orange with dark red blotches. Flowers Summer to Autumn.
All native plants on unleased land in the ACT are protected.
