Shrub to 2 m tall.

Leaves

Leaves with sparse ferruginous-brown indumentum when young. Leaf blades about 9-21 x 5-9 cm, obovate, rarely elliptic-ovate. Petioles long, about 2-9 cm long, grooved on the upper surface and swollen at its junction with the twig. Stipules small and inconspicuous.

Flowers

Flowers not known but likely to be similar to Actephila petiolaris subsp. petiolaris.

Fruit

Capsules depressed globular, about 20 x 25 mm, pedicels long and slender (about 3-7 cm long). Seeds about 13 x 11 mm. Cotyledons crumpled and folded many times.

Seedlings

Features not known.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to NEQ, known only from Barron Gorge National Park near Cairns. Altitudinal range from 100-330 m. Occurs on steep slopes in semi-deciduous vineforest on substrates derived from metamorphics.
