Stem

Blaze odour may resemble that of Poison Peach (Trema aspera).

Leaves

Leaf blades about 8-13 x 2.8-4.5 cm. Lateral veins curved throughout their length but not forming distinct loops. Domatia are foveoles and may occur on the lateral veins as well as along the midrib.

Flowers

Flowers about 8 mm diam. Calyx and corolla sericeous or pubescent on the outer surface. Sepals fused into a cup about 0.5-0.6 mm long, almost without segments. Calyx lobes no more than small teeth. Petals shortly fused at the base, about 4-5 x 1 mm. Anthers linear, about 3 mm long, curving outwards with the petals, filaments about 1 mm long. Staminal filaments and the inner surface of the corolla tube hairy. Style about 4-4.5 mm long. Ovule one.

Fruit

Fruits ellipsoid, spindle-shaped, about 13-17 x 8-12 mm, puberulous or glabrous. Seeds about 12-13 x 7-8 mm.

Seedlings

Cotyledons broadly ovate, about 30 x 25 mm, apex obtuse, base obtuse to cordate. At the tenth leaf stage: leaves obovate, apex acuminate, base cuneate, glabrous or clothed in short prostrate hairs, with foveoles present on the midrib and often also on the lateral veins distant from the midrib. Hairs on the upper surface arise from a crater-like depression in the surface of the leaf blade. Seed germination time 32 to 88 days.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to Queensland, occurs in CYP (Iron Range) and northern NEQ. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 100 m. Grows in lowland rain forest.
