Weak and slender fleshy herb with ascending branches up to 40 cm tall.

Leaf blades 30-80 x 12-25 mm, upper surface minutely scabrous; 'petiole' forming a sheath 10-20 mm long around the stem, ciliate at the oraface, free part of the petiole 6-12 mm long. Both the upper and lower surfaces of the leaf blade sparsely clothed in hairs.

Inflorescence 8-10 cm long; pedicels about 8 mm long, flowers 8-10 mm diam. Sepals 3-4 x 1 mm, translucent with purple margins Petals 4-8 x 3.5 mm. Anthers dimorphic, two large and brown about 1.25 mm long, filaments about 2 mm long and one large yellow anther about 1.5 mm long, filament about 1.5 mm long. Pollen yellow. Staminodes 1-1.2 x 1-1.2 mm on very fine filaments. Style about 5 mm long.

Occurs in CYP, NEQ, CEQ and southwards to southern New South Wales. Altitudinal range from 5-1020 m. Grows in rainforest, riparian forest, notophyll vine forest and in open Eucalypt forest.
