Stem

Stems ascending 20-30 cm tall.

Leaves

Leaf blades 15-55 x 14-20 mm, fleshy; free petiole 5-8 mm long, base of petiole forms a tubular sheath around stem, stem clasping part 6-12 mm long; surfaces of the leaf blade sparsely clothed in fine hairs, abaxial midrib prominantly raised, margin sometimes undulate.

Flowers

Flower bracts cup-shaped around inflorescence stems. Petals thinly textured, pale lilac. 1 pistil, 2 stamens and 4 staminodes.

Fruit

10-15 seeds per fruit; seeds uniseriate, hilum linear, embryotega lateral.

Distribution and Ecology

Occurs in CYP, NEQ and CEQ. Altitudinal range 5-580 m. Occurs in rainforest and microphyll to notophyll vine forest.
