Oak grain in the wood and a corresponding pattern in the inner blaze. Cream or white granular stripes in the outer blaze. Lenticels in longitudinal lines.

Oak grain in the twigs. Leaves predominantly simple but occasionally lobed, trifoliolate or compound with about 2-5 leaflets. Leaf blades about 7-10 x 5.5-8 cm. Petioles about 5.5-9 cm. Young shoots densely clothed in rusty brown hairs.

Racemes about 17-30 cm long. Tepals about 14-17 mm long. Hypogynous glands three, turgid. Ovules 1 or 2.

Fruits about 10-15 cm long. Seeds flat, about 9-12 x 4.5-5 cm overall including the wing.

Cotyledons with several veins radiating from the petiole. First pair of leaves deeply trilobed. Terminal bud clothed in rusty hairs. At the tenth leaf stage: leaf compound with about 4-6 leaflets or lobes; petiole and compound leaf axis hairy. Seed germination time 55 to 253 days.

Endemic to NEQ, restricted to the Mt Spurgeon-Mt Lewis area and Pinnacle Rock west of Mossman. Altitudinal range from 1000-1200 m. Grows in well developed mountain rain forest.
