Blaze very fibrous and finely layered.

Twig bark strong and fibrous when stripped. Leaf blades about 11-23 x 5.5-15 cm. Occasional stellate hairs or scales usually visible with a lens on the underside of the leaf blade. Domatia, if present, are tufts of hairs.

Calyx about 6 mm long, clothed in stellate hairs, splitting from the apex usually into two lobes. Petals about 7-9 mm long. Anther sacs confluent.

Fruits about 15-20 mm long, stellate hairy, winged, two wings for each locule. Calyx lobes persistent at the base. Aril mottled brown and white. Embryo green.

Cotyledons about 13-19 x 10-17 mm, minutely hairy on the underside. First pair of leaves with toothed ciliate margins. At the tenth leaf stage: leaves mostly simple, base cordate or auriculate, hairs mostly on the midrib and the lateral veins on the underside; a few stellate hairs or scales on all parts, but more common on new leaves and buds. Stipules about 1 mm long. Seed germination time 12 to 43 days.

Occurs in NT and CYP. Altitudinal range from sea level to 100 m. Grows in gallery forest and drier, more seasonal rain forest. Also occurs in Asia and Malesia.
