Stem

Shrubs or small tree, 4-6 m tall, deciduousBark dark grey, rough, fissured, tessellated. Young branchlets stellate-puberulent. Bark hard and difficult to cut. Blaze marked by horizontal speckles.

Leaves

Leaf blades dull and glabrous above, pale grey stellate-velutinous below, very shallowly 3(-5)-lobed, broadly ovate to ovate, 9.5-13 cm x 11-16 cm; petioles (4.5)-6-12 cm long.

Flowers

Inflorscence 1-12-flowered; flowers pink, red, orange-red; 25-35mm long x 25-30 mm diamter; perianth shortly 5-lobed; nectaries 4, 3-lobed. Male flowers with androgynophore 12-18 mm long; stamens 24-25. Female flowers with androgynophore 3-5 mm long, 24-25 staminodes.

Fruit

Fruits pale greenish-yellow, stellate-velutinous, about 6-7 x 3-3.5 cm. Seeds about 8-9.5 x 5.5-6.5 mm.

Seedlings

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to WA. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 450 m. Grows in woodlands but also found in and on the margins of monsoon forest.
