Ceratopetalum macrophyllum Hoogland

Lenticels rather large and conspicuous, 1 cm or more in diameter. Bark exudate meagre. Blaze odour resembling that of almonds (Prunus dulcis). A thin dark layer may be visible between the inner and outer blaze.

Leaf blade rather large, about 10-16 x 5-7 cm. Midrib depressed on the upper surface and the lateral veins forming loops just inside the blade margin. Petiole narrowly grooved on the upper surface. Stipules long and narrow, about 15 mm long.

Tepals 4.5-9 mm long.

Fruits predominantly 5-winged, about 25-30 mm diam.

Cotyledons +/- orbicular, about 12-13 mm diam. At the tenth leaf stage: leaf blade elliptic, apex acuminate, base attenuate, margin crenate or finely crenate, midrib raised on the upper surface; stipules about 2 mm long. Seed germination time 26 days.

Endemic to NEQ, restricted to the Noah Creek, Alexandra Creek, and Roaring Meg Creek catchments. Altitudinal range from near sea level to about 600 m. Grows in well developed rain forest often along creeks and gullies.
