Family Description

A family of about 14 genera and about 800 species, pantropic;  four genera occur naturally in Australia.

Genera

Calophyllum - A genus of about 187 species, pantropic but predominantly Indo-Malesian; six species occur naturally in Australia. Stevens (1974, 1980).

Garcinia - A genus of about 260 species in Africa, Madagascar, Asia, Malesia, Australia, the Pacific islands and South America; nine native and three naturalised species occur naturally in Australia. Cooper (2013); Smith (1941); White (1936).

Mammea - A genus of about 50 species, pantropic; one species occurs naturally in Australia. Smith (1959).

Mesua - A genus of 40 species in Asia, Malesia and Australia; two species occur naturally in Australia. Kostermans (1969).
