Crudia abbreviata A.R.Bean

Wood very hard and dense. Buttresses gradually tapering into the trunk.
Leaflet blades about 4.5-8.5 x 1.5-4 cm, broadest towards the base, leaflet stalk about 3-5 mm long. Lateral veins forming loops well inside the blade margin. Leaflet stalks transversely wrinkled. Stipules small and inconspicuous. Compound leaf axis often ending in a stout point as in some Sapindaceae.
Flowers faintly but pleasantly perfumed, the odour resembling that of roses (Rosa sinensis?). Inflorescences terminal but often appearing axillary. Pedicels about 5 mm long. Peduncles about 5-15 mm long. Sepals about 3 mm long. Petals absent (rarely a small vestigial petal present). Stamens usually 10. Ovary densely clothed in white hairs. Ovules 1-3 in each ovary.

Collections to date indicate this species is endemic to CYP, however, it may extend into New Guinea. Altitudinal range small, perhaps from 20-100 m. Grows in well developed gallery forest along creeks and rivers. This taxon appears to be close to C. blancoi.
