Cyclophyllum maritimum S.T.Reynolds & R.J.F.Hend.

Shrub or small tree 3-10 m tall. Bark mottled grey, slighty rough; branchlets glabrous, very pale brown or pale grey, with dense, whitish or dark coloured lenticels.

Stipules interpetiolar, triangular, keeled, narrowed into a short lobe at apex. Domatia absent or rarely present and obscure. Petioles 5-8 mm long. Blades elliptic, broad elliptic to elliptic-ovate, 3.8-8.2 x 2.1-5.2 cm, apex obtuse or shortly acuminate, base obtuse, margins slightly recurved. Lateral nerves in 4-6 pairs.

Inflorescences cymes, (2-)4-7 flowered, on peduncles 2.5-6 mm long. Flowers strongly perfumed; calyx 2 x 1.5 mm, glabrous; corolla 9-10 mm long, yellow, with tube 5-6 mm long x 1.5-2 mm wide, densely hairy at mouth; lobes 3.5-5.5 x 1.5-1.75 mm.

On spreading or drooping pedicels 6-10 mm long, greenish orange to red when ripe, drying black, 8.5-11.5 x 8.5-14 mm. Seeds (pyrenes) smooth.

Occurs in CYP and NEQ, from Torres Straight islands to Daintree River. Grows in coastal scrubs on headlands, coastal sand dunes, and along tidal creeks and rivers.
