Stem

Perennial sedge with very slender stolons covered in reddish brown striated sheaths. Stems very slender, 5-30 cm tall, ca. 0.5 mm diam.

Leaves

Leaves narrow, 1-2 mm wide with triquetrous apex.

Flowers

Inflorescence simple; spikes sessile to subsessile, shortly cylindrical, 8-10 x 4-6 mm. Spikelets finely horizontally spreading, lanceolate, slightly curved, 2.5-3 x ca. 0.5 mm; glumes 4, lanceolate-ovate, acute, obscurely nerved; style long, reflexed.

Fruit

Nut trigonous, oblong to ovate, 1.3-1.5 mm long, glossy.

Seedlings

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

Occurs in NT and NEQ. Altitudinal range from 390-580 m. Grows in rainforest, Eucalypt forest and deciduous vine thicket. Also occurs in India and Pakistan.
