Dysoxylum acutangulum subsp. foveolatum (Radlk.) Mabb.

Tree to 37 m tall, but may flower and fruit as a small tree.

Leaves opposite, decussate, ca. 15=30 cm long; 4-6 pairs of leaflets; petiole 8-11 cm long; leaflets elliptic to lanceolate, 9-15 x 5-6.5 cm; buds stiletto-like; usually with domatia in the axils of lateral veins; lateral veins usually faint.

Inflorescences 3-8 cm long; calyx shallowly cup-shaped, ca. 2.5 mm diameter, 4-lobed; shortly hairy outside. Petals 4, ca. 10-13 mm long, cream-yellow, hairy on both sides; stamens usually 8.

Fruit ca. 5-8 cm diamter, glabrous, orange with white latex. Seeds 4, ca. 2 cm long, black; aril (sarcotesta) orange.

Features not available.

Occurs in WA (possibly), NT, CYP and NEQ. Altitudinal range from sea level to 950 m. Grows as a large tree in rainforest, and forested creeks and gullies. Also occurs in Indonesia, New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.
