Family Description

A family of three genera and about 50 species mainly in temperate and subtropical regions of the northern hemisphere but extending into tropical Asia; one genus occurs naturally in Australia.

Genera

Elaeagnus - A genus of about 20-45 species in Central and North America, Europe, temperate and tropical Asia and Australia; one species occurs naturally in Australia. Guymer (1995); Veldkamp (1986).
