Stem

Plants about 40-60 cm tall, completely devoid of chlorophyll.

Leaves

'Leaves' (bracts) sessile, stem clasping, about 5-6 x 1-2 cm, venation longitudinal and parallel.

Flowers

Inflorescence about 20-90 cm tall. Flowers about 3.5-7.5 cm diam. Sepals about 21-36 x 7-13 mm. Petals about 15-23 x 6-10 mm. Labellum about 13-18 mm long (16-22 x 14-21 when spread out), 3-lobed, upper surface concave and clothed in hairs. Column attached to the labellum. Column about 10-12 x 3-4 mm.

Distribution and Ecology

Occurs in NEQ. Altitudinal range 400-700 m. also found in Asia and Malesia.

Natural History & Notes

Plants lack chlorophyll and live as saprophytes.
