Family Description

A family of about 120 genera and 2500 species, pantropic with only a few species in temperate areas; five genera occur naturally in Australia.

Genera

Boea - A genus of ca. 20 species: China, East Indies, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Polynesia, Vietnam; 2 species occur naturally in Australia

Cyrtandra - A genus of about 200-600 species mainly in SE Asia and the Pacific islands; one species occurs naturally in Australia. Bailey (1890).

Lenbrassia - A monotypic genus endemic to Australia. Gillett (1974); Morley (1978).
