Vine or scrambler with woody stems. Buds and young stems sparsely hairy, stems becoming hairless.
Leaves simple, opposite. Stipules interpetiolar, lanceolate, 2-3 mm long, becoming membranous and disintegrating. Petiole 2-5 mm long. Leaf blade ovate to oblong-ovate, elliptic, 2-8 cm long, 1.5-5 cm wide, base cuneate to obtuse, margins entire, apex shortly acuminate; juvenile leaves linear, to 12 cm long and 2-4 mm wide. Lateral veins 6-8 pairs. Domatia hairy or hairless pits. Both surfaces hairless or sparsely hairy.
Inflorescences range from simple stalked flowers in axillary clusters to 1-3 flowered heads, heads occurring in pairs on short stalks united by a common peduncle 1-5 mm long. Flowers either all bisexual or sometimes some male flowers mixed with bisexual flowers, actinomorphic, 4- or 5-merous, c. 2 mm diam. Sepals ± united into a short tube. Petals with tube 1-2 mm long, lobes spreading to recurved, 2-3 mm long, white to yellow. Stamens same number as corolla lobes, exserted from corolla tube. Ovary inferior, fused to ovary of adjacent flowers in head when present; style exserted from corolla tube, stigma bilobed.
