Hexaspora pubescens C.T.White

Grows into a small tree but often flowers and fruits as a shrub 3-4 m tall.

Leaf blades about 6-14 x 2-5 cm, clothed in pale coloured hairs on both the upper and lower surfaces. Petioles and twigs densely clothed in brownish hairs. Lateral veins curving but not forming definite loops inside the blade margin. Stipules very small, hairy.

Inflorescence hairy, clothed in pale golden, erect hairs, strictly axillary, much shorter than the leaves. Calyx lobes about 0.5 mm long, pubescent on the outer surface, glabrous on the inner. Petals about 1.5 mm long, pubescent on the outer surface, glabrous on the inner, margins fringed. Staminal filaments short and broad (but not as wide as the anthers) attached outside or to the outer edge of the disk.

Fruits globular, +/- 3-lobed in transverse section, about 7 mm diam. Seeds about five per fruit, sickle-shaped, about 4 mm long, aril attached at one end. Embryo curved, about 3.5 mm long.

Features not available.

Endemic to NEQ. Altitudinal range probably quite small, from 400-700 m. Grows as an understory plant in well developed upland rain forest.
