Internodes flattened, about 5-13 x 2-4 mm with a distinct midrib.
Leaves
Leaves absent or very small, about 0.5 mm long.
Flowers
Flowers produced in a whorl at each node, usually no more than 8 flowers per whorl. Flowers small, +/- globular, about 0.5 mm diam. Usually one male flower and 5-6 female flowers in each cluster but not all mature simultaneously. Male flowers: Anthers fused into a globose structure with one central pore. Female flowers: Flowers scarcely opening, perianth lobes very short.

Parasitic on a variety of rain forest mountain-top species.
