Flowers and fruits as a shrub about 3-5 m tall.

Leaflet blades rather thick and leathery, about 20-30 x 4-8 cm, about eight leaflets per compound leaf, lateral veins forming loops just inside the blade margin. Rhachis about 30 cm long. Petiole base swollen, swollen part about 1 cm long.

Features not available.

Infructescence about 60 cm long. Fruits about 22-30 x 18-26 mm. Seeds about 14-19 x 14-18 mm. Inner surface of the fruit red or purple. Cotyledons cream.

Cotyledons only partly emerge from the testa and only partly become photosynthetically active. First pair of true leaves opposite or sub-opposite. At the tenth leaf stage: leaf compound with about 4-7 leaflets, leaflet blades lanceolate, about 9-12 x 2-3 cm, leaflet stalks short, channelled on the upper surface. Midrib depressed on the upper surface. Terminal bud clothed in pale brown prostrate hairs. Seed germination time 27 to 47 days.

Occurs in CYP, known only from collections made in the Claudie River area. Altitudinal range probably quite small, from near sea level to 50 (?)m. Grows in well developed gallery rain forest on creek or river flats. Also occurs in Africa, Asia and New Guinea.
