Lysiana maritima (Barlow) Barlow

Aerial stem-parasitic shrub. Epicortical runners absent.

Leaf blades about 2-4 x 1.2-2.2 cm, petioles about 0.2-0.4 cm long. Venation not obvious on either surface of the leaf blades. Lateral veins only 1 or 2 on each side of the midrib.

Flowers borne in a pedunculate 2-flowered umbel. Flower stalks about 4-8 mm long. Peduncles about 2-5 mm long. Calyx about 1 mm long, 6-toothed or shortly 6-lobed. Corolla tube about 12 mm long, lobes about 16-22 mm long. Anthers (not septate) about 5-6 mm long, staminal filaments about 5-7 mm long. Ovary about 3 mm long. Style about 35 mm long.

Fruits about 7 x 4.5 mm, style remnant about 0.5 mm long, persistent at the apex. Fruit outer surface +/- translucent. Seeds about 3-5 mm long.

Endemic to Australia. Occurs in NT, NEQ, CEQ and southwards as far as south eastern Queensland. Altitudinal range in northern Australia from near sea level to 10 m. Often parasitic on mangroves but also found on some beach forest species.
