Stem

A slender vine not exceeding a stem diameter of 2 cm.

Leaves

Twigs and petioles produce a milky exudate. Leaf blades about 21 x 11 cm, petioles about 7 cm long. About 7-11 colleters (small finger-like glands) present on the upper surface of the midrib close to its junction with the petiole.

Flowers

Inflorescence an umbelliform raceme. Peduncles hairy, about 11-15 mm long. Pedicels about 15-25 mm long. Flowers about 20 mm diam. at anthesis. Sepals about 5 x 5 mm. Corolla tube about 1.5-2 mm long, lobes about 10 x 5 mm, rolled lengthwise. Anthers about 4 mm long, fused to form a staminal corona about 6 mm diam. Each anther with an ovate leaf-like appendage about 5 x 3.5 mm arching over the middle of the flower. Pollen aggregated in pollinia. Carpels about 2 x 1 mm. Style head about 5 x 6 mm.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to NEQ. Altitudinal range not known, collected at 700 m. Grows in well developed upland rain forest. Appears to be a rare species which is seldom collected.
