Family Description

A family of about 1000 genera and 15000-30000 species with a worldwide distribution; about 110 genera occur naturally in Australia.

Genera

Aphyllorchis - A genus of about 12 species in southern Asia, Philippines, Malesia and Australia; two species occur naturally in Australia. Dockrill (1992).

Calanthe - A genus of about 150 species in Africa, Asia, Malesia, Australia and the Pacific islands; one species occurs naturally in Australia. Dockrill (1992).

Corymborkis - A genus of five species in Africa, Asia, Malesia, Australia and the Pacific islands; one species occurs naturally in Australia. Dockrill (1992).

Dipodium - A genus of about 20 species in Malesia, Australia and the Pacific islands; 11 species occur naturally in Australia. Dockrill (1992).

Epipogium - A genus of a few species with a wide distributions The genus occurs in a wide area between Europe and Japan and southwards through Aisa, Malesia and Australia. The genus is also found in Africa. Holttum (1964). One species occurs naturally in Australia.

Eulophia - A genus of about 20 species in Africa, Asia, Malesia and Australia; four species occur naturally in Australia.

Phaius - A genus of about 20 species in Africa, Asia, Malesia, Australia and the islands of the western Pacific; five species occur naturally in Australia. Dockrill (1992).

Pseudovanilla - A genus of eight species in Asia, Malesia and Australia; one species occurs naturally in Australia. Dockrill (1992).
