Parsonsia wildensis J.B.Williams

A slender vine not exceeding a stem diameter of 2 cm.

Twigs and petioles produce a small amount of clear(?) exudate. Leaf blades about 3.2-7.5 x 0.8-2.8 cm, petioles about 0.2-1 cm long, grooved on the upper surface. Small glands resembling tiny stipules visible on the twigs between the petiole bases. Twigs and petioles clothed in very short hairs which are just visible with a lens.

Flowers about 7-8 mm diam. Calyx lobes about 3 x 1 mm. Corolla tube about 3 mm long, slightly inflated about the middle, inner surface clothed in hairs. Corolla lobes about 4 mm long. Stamens attached close to the base of the corolla tube, anthers about 4 mm long, fused forming a cone around the style. Carpels surrounded by a ring of green glands, each about 1 mm long.

Fruits about 140 x 6 mm, calyx lobes about 4 mm long persistent at the base of the fruit. Seeds about 10-12 x 2 mm, plumes of hairs about 30-35 mm long. Cotyledons about 2 x 1 mm. Radicle about 1 mm long.

Endemic to NEQ, known only from collections made on the Wild River near Herberton and Windin Falls on the eastern edge of the Atherton Tablelend. Altitudinal range from 600-1000 m. Usually grows in open forest but also extending into rain forest margins.
