Erect succulent herb with stems up to 10 cm tall, stems densely clothed in reddish hairs.

Leaves in whorls of 3-4; lamina 8-26 x 5-14 mm, secondary venation obscure; covered in dense hairs; petioles about 1-3 mm long.

Spike terminal, solitary or with up to 5 branches, to 5 cm long; sterile axis hairy; fertile axes 0.5-4.5 cm long. Flowers slightly sunken into axis, flowers spaced 1-1.5 mm apart; bracts rounded, 0.4-0.5 mm long and wide, larger than ovary. Anthers ca. 0.4 mm long. Ovary rounded, 0.2-0.3 mm long and wide.

Fruit have not been collected. Features coded in the key have been assigned based on features of closely related species.

An endemic species only known from near the Daintree to south of Cairns in NEQ. Altitudinal range from 160-1520 m. Grows on moss-covered rocks in shade of rainforest and microphyll vineforest.
