Usually flowers and fruits as a shrub about 1-3 m tall.

Leaves produced on lateral shoots which resemble compound leaves. Leaves arranged alternately and not spirally on the twigs. Leaf blades about 6-9 x 1.4-2.3 cm, almost white on the underside, petioles about 0.3 cm long. Lateral veins curving inside the blade margin but not forming conspicuous loops. Stipules about 1.5 mm long, triangular, broad at the base.

Flowers about 2-3 mm diam. Small green glands present at the base of the staminal filaments.

Perianth usually green, persistent at the base of the fruit. Fruit about 6-8 mm diam. Embryo pale green.

Cotyledons about 8-10 x 4-5 mm. Hypocotyl glabrous. First pair of true leaves ovate, glaucous on the underside, stipules narrow, +/- linear, about 1 mm long. At the tenth leaf stage: leaf blade +/- lanceolate, about 9-10 x 2 cm, apex acute or apiculate, base obtuse, almost white on the underside, petiole about 3-4.5 mm long. Stipules about 1-2 mm long, triangular with a broad base. Seed germination time 25 to 104 days.

Endemic to NEQ. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 700 m. Grows as an understory plant in well developed lowland and upland rain forest.
