Family

Bean, A.R. (2017) Austrobaileya 10(1): 10 (2017). Type: North Kennedy District: 0.8 km east of Taravale homestead, south-west of Paluma, 15 May 2009, A.R. Bean 28851 & R.Jensen.

Stem

Usually flowers and fruits as a shrub to 1.5 m tall but flowers and fruits when smaller.

Leaves

Leaf blades oblong, elliptic to obovate-oblanceolate, with a mucronate apex, about 15-48 x 8-17 mm, petioles about 1-3 mm long. Twigs, petioles and leaf blade surfaces clothed in long pale silky loosely appressed hairs. Venation usually difficult to see. Twig bark strong and fibrous when stripped.

Flowers

Inflorescences generally axillary, sometimes terminal. Flowers about 5 mm diam. Perianth tube (hypanthium) about 5-6 mm long, lobes about 1.5-2 mm long. Stamens inserted in the throat of the perianth tube (hypanthium). Anthers +/- sessile, about 1.5 x 0.5 mm. Pollen yellow-orange. Apex of the ovary clothed in white hairs. Style about ca. 2 mm long, attached to the side of the ovary.

Fruit

Fruits pyriform, about 6.5 x 2.2 mm, clothed in prostrate long silky hairs. Seed almost as large as the fruit, ca. 4 mm x 2 mm, testa tuberculate.

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to Queensland, occurs in NEQ and the northern part of CEQ. Altitudinal range in CYP and NEQ from near sea level to 550 m. Usually grows in open forest but sometimes found in vine thickets and monsoon forest.

Synonyms

Temporary phrase name: Pimelea sp. Bakers Blue Mt. (D.G.Fell DF1588).
