Usually prominently buttressed, particularly on the larger trees. Pale brown brittle stripes usually obvious in the blaze.
Cotyledons elliptic, about 4-5 mm long with a few hairs on the upper surface about the margin. At the tenth leaf stage: leaf blade elliptic, apex acute, base attenuate or cuneate, margin conspicuously toothed from base to apex, hairy on the upper surface; petiole, stem and terminal bud clothed in upright hairs; stipules triangular or linear-ovate, hairy. Seed germination time 24 days.
Produces a useful general purpose timber.
Wood specific gravity 0.88. Cause et al. (1989).
