Grows into a small tree seldom exceeding 30 cm dbh but usually flowers and fruits as a shrub about 2-3 m tall.
Stipular scars hairy, completely encircling the twig. Stipules about 1-3 mm long, appear +/- triangular when still attached to the twig but +/- shield-shaped when shed. Leaf blades about 6-10 x 2-4.5 cm. Domatia are inconspicuous tufts of hair. Pale prostrate hairs present on the twigs beneath the stipules.

Occurs in WA and NT, and also less commonly in CYP, NEQ and CEQ. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 100 m. Grows as an understory plant in some of the drier types of rain forest and monsoon forest.
