A small tree seldom exceeding 20 cm dbh. Sapwood surface corrugated.
Calyx lobes short, less than 0.5 mm long. Corolla tube about 1.5-2 mm long, lobes about 3-3.5 mm long. A distinct ring of downward pointing hairs on the inner surface near the apex of the corolla tube, glabrous elsewhere. Corolla lobes with minutely papillose margins. Stigma peltate, +/- mitriform, 2-lipped at the apex.
Fruits about 5 mm long excluding the stalk.
Cotyledons linear-obovate, about 10-12 mm long. At the tenth leaf stage: leaf blade about 10-12 mm long; stipules triangular. Seed germination time 223 days.
Occurs in CYP and NEQ. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 300 m. Grows on the margins of monsoon forest and dry rain forest. Also occurs in New Guinea.
