Leaflets about 4-6 in the compound leaf, each leaflet blade about 7-16 x 2.5-6 cm. Leaflet stalk often purplish and swollen at its junction with the compound leaf rhachis. Midrib raised on the upper surface. Leaflet blade slightly arched between the major lateral veins. Terminal buds clothed in shiny brown, prostrate hairs.

Flowers

Inflorescence about 5-7 cm long, pedicels about 1-2 mm long. Calyx about 1 mm long, lobes rounded, ciliate. Petals +/- obtriangular, about 1 mm long. Each petal with two hairy scales or appendages on the inner surface. Stamens eight, filaments hairy at least in the lower half, about 3 mm long, inserted inside the yellow-orange disk.

Seedlings

First pair of leaves simple, elliptic or ovate, apex acuminate, base attenuate. Midrib raised on the upper surface. Petiole swollen at the base near its junction with the stem. At the tenth leaf stage: midrib and the main lateral veins raised on the upper surface; lateral veins curving and forming loops inside the blade margin; terminal bud clothed in +/- prostrate, chestnut brown hairs. Seed germination time 17 to 19 days.

Distribution and Ecology
