Senna coronilloides (Benth.) Randell

Usually flowers and fruits as a shrub about 1-2 m tall.

Stipules linear, about 2-4 mm long. Leaflet blades about 10-25 x 2.5-6 mm, lateral veins difficult to distinguish. Compound leaf rhachis and leaflet petioles clothed in white hairs.

Petals about 12 mm long. Stamens ten, nine on very short filaments and one on a longer filament. Ovary stalked, clothed in prostrate hairs, ovules about 20.

Pods flat, about 7-12 x 0.5-0.7 cm. Seeds laterally compressed, ellipsoid, about 0.3 x 0.4 mm. Cotyledons much wider and longer than the radicle.

Cotyledons orbicular, about 12 mm diam. First pair of leaves pinnate, each leaf with 4-6 leaflets. At the tenth leaf stage: leaf pinnate with up to 40 leaflets per leaf. Leaflet blades lanceolate, about 20-25 x 5 mm. Stipules linear, about 4 mm long. Seed germination time 26 days.

Occurs in NEQ, CEQ and southwards to coastal central New South Wales. Altitudinal range from near sea level to about 1000 m. Often grows in brigalow scrub but also found in monsoon forest and vine thickets.

This species is of no grazing significance. Hacker (1990).
