Usually grows as an erect shrub about 1 m tall but has also been recorded as prostrate.

Fruits capsular, consisting of 8 mericarps each ending in two horns clothed in backward or downward-pointing hairs. Each mericarp about 3-4 mm long, horns about 5 mm long. Seeds brown, about 2 mm long.

Distribution and Ecology
Endemic to Australia, occurs in WA, NT, NEQ, CEQ and southwards to inland areas of South Australia and New South Wales. Altitudinal range not known, but in NEQ collected at 760 m. In NEQ grows as an understory plant in disturbed vine thickets and monsoon forest.
