Symplocos bullata Jessup

Occasionally grows into a small tree but also flowers and fruits as a shrub.
Fruits obpyriform or ampulliform, about 9 mm long, calyx lobes persistent at the apex. Endocarp thick and woody. Seeds about 6-8 mm long, testa longitudinally ribbed. Radicle curved, about 3.5 mm long, cotyledons straight, about 0.7 mm long and wider than the radicle.

Endemic to NEQ, known from the Mt Lewis to Mt Carbine area west of Mossman with an outlier at Mt Fisher south of Millaa Millaa. Altitudinal range from 1000-1300 m. Grows as an understory plant in mountain rain forest.
