Symplocos oresbia Jessup

Occasionally grows into a small tree but usually flowers and fruits as a shrub.

Leaf blades about 6-9 x 2-3 cm, petioles about 1-1.5 cm long. Lateral veins about 6-8 on each side of the midrib.

Inflorescences about 2 cm long. Stamens about 20.

Fruits obpyriform, about 7-10 x 4-6 mm, calyx persistent at the apex. Endocarp thick and hard, longitudinally ribbed. Stone about 7-10 x 4-5 mm.

Endemic to NEQ, restricted to the mountain tops from Mt Finnigan to Mossman Bluff. Altitudinal range from 1000-1550 m. Grows in mountain rain forest on soils derived from granite often in stunted windswept forest.
