Oils dots rather large, numerous and conspicuous, readily visible to the naked eye. Leaf blades about 3.8-8.5 x 1.3-3.8 cm. Midrib raised on the upper surface.

Bracts deciduous, absent at anthesis. Calyx tube (hypanthium) + pedicel about 3.5-5.5 mm long, calyx tube (hypanthium) about 3-5 mm diam., calyx lobes rounded, about 0.5-1 mm long. Petals +/- orbicular, concave, about 2-4 mm diam., oil dots comparatively large, about 15-90 per petal. Outer staminal filaments about 3-5.5 mm long, anthers about 0.4 x 0.4 mm, gland terminal. Ovules about 7-20 per locule, placentas central, ovules radiating, ascending. Style about 4-6.5 mm long, approximating the stamens.

Fruits globular or depressed globular, attaining about 10-12 x 10-16 mm, calyx lobes persistent but small and inconspicuous. Seed solitary, about 7-8 x 8-11 mm., testa adhering to the succulent pericarp and slightly adherent to the rugose surface of the uniformly textured, petiolate cotyledons. Radicle central or lateral, cotyledonary stipules present.

Cataphylls about 1-3 pairs. At the tenth leaf stage: leaf blade elliptic or obovate, apex acuminate, base cuneate or attenuate; oil dots small, scattered. Seed germination time 13 to 24 days.

Endemic to Queensland, occurs in NEQ and CEQ. Altitudinal range from 500-1400 m. Grows in well developed upland and mountain rain forest on a variety of sites.

This species has no commercial value and even though the tree is usually well formed the logs are not millable because of the sections of bark which are included in the wood. Wood specific gravity 0.80. Hyland (1983).
