Usually flowers and fruits as a shrub about 1-5 m tall but sometimes flowers when smaller. Occasionally grows into of a poorly formed tree.
Leaves arranged in four vertical rows on each twig. Leaf blades about 3-5 x 1.5-3 mm. Lateral veins inconspicuous. 'Stipules' small and hair-like.
Flowers +/- sessile, scarcely exceeding the leaves. Flowers usually in very short 3-flowered cymes. Sepals petaloid, closely resembling the petals. Petals about 1.5-2 mm long. Stamens attached to the margin of a yellow saucer-shaped disk. Anthers red or purple except for a large brown gland at the apex. Ovules 2, attached to a lateral, almost basal placenta. Stigma minutely tuberculate.

Endemic to Queensland, occurs in CYP and NEQ. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 300 m. Grows in heath, open forest and vine thickets.
An ornamental species that will grow in a variety of situations and covers itself with small white flowers.
