Family Description

A family of about 55-60 genera and over 500 species in Africa, Asia, Malesia, Australia and America; nine genera occur naturally in Australia.

Genera

Lethedon - A genus of 12 species in Australia, New Caledonia and Vanuatu; one species occurs naturally in Australia. Rye & Heads (1990).

Phaleria - A genus of about 25-30 species in Asia, Malesia, Australia and the Pacific islands; three species occur naturally in Australia. Rye & Heads (1990).

Pimelea - A genus of more than 100 species in Australia, Lord Howe Island, New Zealand and the Chatham Islands; about 90 species occur naturally in Australia. Harden et al. (2014); Herber (2003); Rye (1990).

Wikstroemia - A genus of about 70 species in Asia, Malesia, Australia and the Pacific islands; one species occurs naturally in Australia. Rye & Heads (1990).
