Trailing herb with pinkish stems.

Usually 6 leaflets in each compound leaf. Leaflets 5-12 x 1.5 mm, sessile or very shortly stalked. Leaflet blades and compound leaf axis clothed in pale hairs, grooved on the upper surface. Larger stipules leaf-like, 5 x 2-2.5 mm.

Pedicles 7-10 mm diameter. Sepals lanceolate, ca. 3 x 1 mm, outer surface clothed in hairs. Petals elliptic, ca. 6 x 1.5 mm. Ovary 5-sided, green, ca. 3 mm long. Stigma 5-lobed.

Fruit a schizocarp, ca. 5 x 6 mm, armed with median and basal spines splitting lngitudinally into 4-5 segments at maturity. Segments (mericarps) triangular, 5-6 x 1.5 mm, indehiscent, containing 1 or 2 seeds, area between fruitlets pubescent, fruitlet base with a tapered point and a large tubercle on the middle surface.

Occurs in CYP, NEQ and the northern part of CEQ. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 385 m. Grows in Eucalypt forest, vine thicket, Eucalypt and Melaleuca woodland and dune grassland.
