A slender vine not exceeding a stem diameter of 2 cm.
Leaves and stems produce a clear exudate. Leaf blades about 6.5-8 x 2-3.5 cm, petioles about 1.5-2 cm long, grooved on the upper surface. Lateral veins forming loops inside the blade margin. About 4-8 colleters (small finger-like glands) about 1 mm long visible on the upper surface of the leaf blade near its junction with the petiole. Stems, petioles and the underside of the leaf blades purple in colour at least when young.
Inflorescence about 8 cm long, a slender irregularly branched panicle or raceme of fascicles. Flowers about 5-7 mm long, 10-15 mm diam, pedicels about 6-20 mm long. Sepals triangular, about 1-1.5 mm long, glabrous. Corolla tube about 1 mm long, lobes lanceolate to ovate, about 4.5-7 x 3-3.5 mm, glabrous. Staminal column about 2 x 2-3 mm. Carpels two, each about 2 x 1 mm. Pollinia globose, horizontal to pendulous, about 0.3 mm long. Stigma greenish cream, about 1.2 mm diam.
Fruits brown or reddish brown, fusiform, each follicle about 60-90 x 8-13 mm, gradually tapering to the apex. Seeds about 6-8 x 2-3.5 mm, plume of hairs about 25-30 mm long. Cotyledons about 4-5 x 2.5 mm, radicle straight.

Endemic to NEQ. Altitudinal range from 800-1200 m. Grows in upland and mountain rain forest, sometimes found in wet sclerophyll forest. Frequently found on soils derived from granite.
